Do I need a membership to play Mahjong at Sparrow & Palm?
No. Open Play is $20 per person + tax, no membership required. Book Open Play online — pick a session, your party size and your level.
I've never played Mahjong. Where do I start?
With our beginner Mahjong classes. The Group Lesson Course is Mahj 101, 102 and 103 — one class of about two hours a week, at the same day and time — for $150 + tax for the whole course, with all three seats held for you. Prefer one-to-one? Private Mahjong 101 is $75 + tax per lesson, arranged directly with us. See Mahjong lessons and course dates.
What style of Mahjong do you play?
We play American Mahjong, played with the current National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) card.
Do I need my own card and set?
Players bring their own current NMJL card. The clubhouse has some spare sets and cards if you need one.
Can I come by myself?
Yes — solo players are always welcome. Book a single seat and we seat you at a table for your level, so you join a real game. Social Mahj is built for mixing, too.
What levels do you have?
Open Play tables are arranged by level — Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced — and you choose your party's level when you book. More about Open Play.
Can I book a whole table for my group?
Yes. A reservation is for up to four people — one table — and we seat your group together. Reserve a table.
How do I book?

Do you take walk-ins?
Yes — Open Play walk-ins are welcome at the front desk while seats remain. Online booking closes when a session starts. See today's Open Play.
How far ahead can I book?
As far ahead as you like — any published Open Play session, Social Mahj or Mahj Brunch, for members and non-members alike. Group Lesson Courses are on sale as soon as they're published. See upcoming events.
What are your hours?
Monday 10:30 AM–3:30 PM; Tuesday 1:30 PM–8 PM; Wednesday 10:30 AM–8 PM; Thursday 11 AM–9 PM; Friday 11 AM–1 PM; Saturday 10:30 AM–1 PM; Sunday closed. On Thursdays without Social Mahj, play ends at 1 PM. Every Open Play session, lesson and event also lists its own times — see the Open Play schedule.
Are you open on holidays?
The clubhouse is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
Where do I park?
Parking is in the plaza's front and back lots, and the handicapped spaces are right in front of Unit 9. Directions.
Is the clubhouse wheelchair accessible?
Yes. The clubhouse is wheelchair accessible. Handicapped parking spaces are right in front of Unit 9.
Is food available?
Food is available to purchase at the clubhouse, and drinks are complimentary. Social Mahj and Mahj Brunch tickets include food.
What is Mahj Brunch?
Mahjong on Saturday mornings, 10:30 AM–1 PM, with brunch alongside the tiles — $50 per person + tax with food included. See Mahj Brunch dates.
How does membership work?
Three plans, each with your own Open Play seat included: Annual ($595 for 12 months), Seasonal / Snowbird ($350 for 6 consecutive months — ideal for seasonal residents) and Monthly ($65), all + tax. You choose a start date, today or up to 120 days ahead. Compare memberships.
Can I host a private event?
Yes — birthdays, showers, girls' gatherings, corporate and team events, and more. Share the occasion and a few details and we'll be in touch to shape it together. Plan a private event.
Do you sell Mahjong sets?
Yes — the Mahjong Boutique at the clubhouse carries Mahjong sets and accessories. It's in-store only, with no online shop, and Annual and Seasonal members save 10%. About the Boutique.
Where are you, and how far is it from Naples, Estero and Fort Myers?
Sparrow & Palm is at 28280 Old 41, Unit 9, Bonita Springs, FL 34135 — minutes from Estero, roughly half an hour from Naples and Fort Myers. Directions and contact · Drive times across Southwest Florida.
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancel 48 hours or more before your session starts for a full refund to your card, including tax; within 48 hours, what you paid becomes Sparrow & Palm credit. Group Lesson Course classes are made up rather than refunded. Read the Reservations & Refunds Policy.
