Clubhouse Guidelines

Sparrow & Palm is a social Mahjong clubhouse for new players, seasoned players, and everyone in between. Come with friends or come on your own — you never need your own group to play here, and you never need to be a member.

We ask every guest to help keep it that way: be kind, be patient with newer players, and make room at the table.

We don't keep general opening hours. The clubhouse is open for scheduled sessions — Open Play, lessons, Social Mahj, Mahj Brunch and events — and each session's times are shown on our website and in your confirmation.

We are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Open Play tables are arranged by level — Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Choose the level that fits you best when you book, and you'll be seated with players at that level.

• Beginner — new to the game, or still learning the basics.
• Intermediate — comfortable playing, still sharpening.
• Advanced — seasoned; you know the game well.

Not sure which to pick? Ask us — we're happy to help. Social Mahj, Mahj Brunch, lessons and special events are not seated by level.

Please arrive about 10 minutes before your session (15 minutes before a lesson), and check in at the front desk so we can show you to your table and get you settled.

Walk-ins are welcome for Open Play whenever seats are available at your level. Walk-ins pay at the front desk by card or cash.

Members bringing guests on a guest pass: your passes are applied when you book Open Play for your guests.

Please cancel in My Account as early as you can — ideally at least 24 hours ahead — so another player can take your seat. Refunds and credit follow our Reservations & Refunds Policy.

Members with a Permanent Table: if you can't come, please release that week's table rather than leaving it empty.

Mahjong is better when everyone is having fun. We ask that guests:

• treat fellow players and our team with courtesy;
• help newer players feel welcome;
• take care of our tiles, tables and furnishings;
• keep phones on silent at the table, and step away to take a call;
• keep conversation at a level that lets nearby tables enjoy their game.

Dress is casual and comfortable.

Mahjong at Sparrow & Palm is played for fun. We do not permit wagering: please don't play for money or anything of value at our tables.

Social Mahj and Mahj Brunch include food. Please don't bring outside food to those events.

If you have a food allergy or dietary need, please tell us before your visit (by email or phone) or when you arrive. Our food may contain, or come into contact with, common allergens, so we can't guarantee that any item is allergen-free.

Please keep food and drinks off the playing surface.

Sparrow & Palm does not sell or serve alcohol, and outside alcohol is not permitted at the clubhouse.

Young players are welcome! Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a participating parent or guardian who stays with them for the whole visit, and reservations must be made by an adult.

We want everyone to be comfortable at Sparrow & Palm. If you need any assistance during your visit, or have trouble using our website, please call (239) 526-1971 or email info@sparrowandpalm.com and we will be glad to help.

Service animals are always welcome. Other pets are not permitted in the clubhouse.

You're welcome to take photos of your own table and friends — please ask before photographing other guests.

If we take photos at the clubhouse to share on our website or social media, we'll ask before we photograph or post anyone who can be identified, and you're welcome to say no. If you'd like a photo of you removed, contact us and we'll take it down.

We may ask anyone whose behaviour disrupts other guests or our team to leave.

If we ask you to leave, or decide not to welcome you back, we'll cancel any future reservations you hold and refund what you paid for them in full. Whether any part of that day's visit is refunded is at our discretion.

If you leave something behind, call or email us with a description. We keep found items for 30 days; after that, unclaimed items are donated to charity or disposed of. Please keep valuables with you.
